Construction Management

Undergraduate Degree Program

Construction Management Undergraduate Degree:

Jointly offered by the departments of:

Construction Management - UNL College of Engineering in Lincoln

Construction Systems - UNL College of Engineering in Omaha (Peter Kiewit Institute)

Construction is the largest and most diversified industry in the country, accounting for approximately 13 percent of the gross national product. The key professionals in this vast enterprise are constructors. They provide leadership for the systematic management, coordination, and supervision of the successful construction processes within the built enterprise during the concept development, design, construction and facility management stages. Controlling production processes may include advice and decisions on time and cost consequences involving planning, budget, design, contracts and awards, estimation, scheduling, logistics, materials, personnel and labor, sub-contracts, safety, codes and regulations, techniques and processes, and coordination of construction project activities.

The College of Engineering's Construction Management program is offered in Lincoln and at UNL's Omaha campus. It has been designed to allow students to take classes on either campus or on both campuses. The program is part of the Charles W. Durham School of Architectural Engineering & Construction.

Points of Excellence:

  • One of the top construction management undergraduate degree programs in the United States
  • The Construction Management Bachelor of Science degree program is fully accredited by the American Council of Construction Education (ACCE) since 1967

The construction management curriculum embraces a course of study in specifications, contractual agreements, real estate law, labor relations, personnel, management, materials, methods, and work/risk analysis techniques. Technical and humanity electives provide for a well rounded education in the construction industry.
