The Video-Conference & Computer Classroom:

Computer ClassroomThe Department of Construction Management continues to maintain a high profile when it comes to technology in the classroom.

This past summer the old video conferencing system was replaced with a totally new I.P. based "Polycom" system. This new technology expands the number and location of classrooms that can be linked together.

Now we can literally place a video call to any site that has a high-speed computer connection, any where in the world.

Video Classroom2This opens up new and exciting possibilities for delivering classes to undergraduate and graduate students, as well as allowing us to provide enhanced continuing education programs to those in the industry.

The real time video classroom contains a lecturer camera, a classroom camera, VHS, cable, 3 projection devices, stereo sound, and 20 computer stations. There is room in this classroom (near site) for 40 individuals. The Polycom can multicast the lecture in real time to four different remote sites at once.
