Electrical Engineering

A Department of the College of Engineering

Course Objectives

For ELEC 408/808
Electromagnetic Field Theory

For the students to learn:

  • to solve Poisson's, Laplace's, and the wave equation subject to the boundary conditions.
  • how to evaluate capacitance, conductance and inductances of electrical curcuits, reluctance of magnetic circuits, and to characterize electromechanical energy conversion.
  • to solve engineering problems involving transmission lines, metallic/dielectric waveguides, and optical fibers.
  • how to characterize the transmitting and receiving properties of line antennas, aperture antennas, and antenna arrays.
