Robert Brightfelt retired as Group President of Dade Behring, Inc., on December 31, 2002 after more than 36 years in the health care industry. He was a founder and member of the board of directors of Dade Behring, Inc., a $1.8 billion global clinical diagnostics company that develops, manufactures, sells and services equipment and test reagents for over 30,000 hospital laboratories. He held positions of executive vice president and group president, with P&L responsibility for the Chemistry & Immunochemistry product lines, and operational responsibility for the company’s R&D, manufacturing, product management and marketing functions worldwide.

Following graduation, Brightfelt served 29 years with the DuPont Company. He held several executive positions in R&D, manufacturing, marketing, strategic planning and general management. During the last nine years with DuPont, he headed DuPont’s Global Diagnostics Strategic Business Unit.

Brightfelt served for four years as an officer and aeronautical engineer in the USAF, is a graduate of the Mahler general management program, and a graduate of executive management programs at Dartmouth University and the University of Virginia. He is a member of Beta Gamma Sigma, Sigma Xi, Sigma Tau, Pi Tau Sigma, Gamma Gamma, Phi Mu Epsilon and Phi Eta Sigma honor societies and is recognized in “Who’s Who among Top Executives.”

Brightfelt has worked as a consultant in the health care industry and serves as a member of the Chicago Architecture Foundation Auxiliary Board and as a trustee of the University of Nebraska Foundation. He is a past board member of Dade Behring, Inc., Molecular Bio Systems Inc., the Health Industry Manufacture’s Association and past board chairman of Junior Achievement of Delaware.
