Requisition #120120

The Department of Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering (CHBE) at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln invites applications for the position of Department Chair. The CHBE is home to 11 tenured/tenure-track faculty, 25 graduate and 250 undergraduate students. Current areas of strength include biomolecular engineering, tissue engineering, nanotechnology, biomaterials, biotechnology, biocatalysis, molecular medicine, computational and systems modeling, and bio-based process development. The faculty has active collaborations with the University of Nebraska Medical Center and has access to multiple core facilities, such as the Biological Process Development Facility and the Nebraska Center for Materials and Nanoscience.

The position of Chair of CHBE extends decisive opportunities for a visionary leader to significantly impact the direction of the department. We are looking for an individual who has outstanding credentials in engineering education and research, and an overarching interest in growing people, growing communities, and facilitating the growth of programs. The Department of CHBE is entering a growth phase and the successful candidate is expected to play a significant part in this expansion. Candidates must have an earned doctorate in chemical engineering or a related field, and the academic credentials necessary for appointment as a full professor with tenure in the Department.

The college of engineering would like to fill this position by the start of the next academic year (August 2013), but the search will remain open until the position is filled. To apply, please go to http://employment.unl.edu and complete the Faculty/Administrative Information Form under Requisition #120120 and attach required documents: a leadership statement, a detailed curriculum vitae, a statement of research, teaching philosophy, and contact information (mailing address, phone number, and e-mail address, if available) for three professional references.
