Career opportunities highlighted at DSAEC
The fourth annual Durham School Career Fair took place Oct. 6 at the Scott Conference Center in Omaha. Nearly 300 students attended, along with 35 companies: mainly from Nebraska and the Midwest, but also from as far away as Arizona and Virginia.
Eight companies at this year’s event were new to the Durham School Career Fair. Overall booth representation was slightly lower than in 2008, due to the lagging economy, but companies this year were actively recruiting Nebraska’s architectural, civil, and construction engineering, as well as construction management, students for positions.
Also this month, Kiewit Building Group, Kiewit Underground, and Kiewit Engineering offered the “Kiewit Experience” presentation about their divisions to 22 Durham School and civil engineering students at The Peter Kiewit Institute. Company values, priorities and job opportunities (including those with other divisions such as Kiewit Western-Denver and Kiewit Western-Phoenix) were discussed.
“We appreciate all company representatives who visit with the outstanding students in our programs,” said Rosemary Edzie, DSAEC outreach program coordinator.
