Matthew Dwyer, professor and chair of computer science and engineering, is one of five UNL faculty who have been selected to participate in the Committee on Institutional Cooperation's 2014-2015 Department Executive Officers Seminar.

The others sponsored by the Senior Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs to participate are: Richard Bischoff, professor and chair of child, youth and family studies; Chris Dunsmore, director of programs in English as a Second Language; Tracy Frank, professor and chair of earth and atmospheric sciences; and Kevin Smith, professor and chair of political science.

The seminar is Nov. 6-8 in Chicago. Participants are selected by their individual campuses.

In 1997, the CIC initiated an annual program of leadership development opportunities for department heads and chairs. Each year, approximately 65 department heads and chairs from CIC universities come together for this unique leadership development seminar. Topics at the three-day event range from conflict resolution and time management to faculty development, performance reviews and group problem solving.
