Academic Advising: Stay on Track

word cloud for ESS

The College of Engineering’s academic advising services are available to help you stay focused and meet your goals. By meeting with your academic advisor, you’ll have the opportunity to:
  • Determine whether you’re taking the right classes for your major
  • Understand which semesters are best to pursue a study abroad experience
  • Decide if dropping or adding a class is right for you and your goals
  • And more!
You can schedule an appointment by contacting your advisor directly by phone or email. If you do not know who your advisor is, contact Brenda Painter at (402) 554-3276 or bpainter2@unl.edu.

Find Your Advisor

It’s important to connect with your academic advisor to ensure you’re on the right path to your goals. Your academic advisor is largely determined by the academic program you are pursuing and your year in school. In fact, all Omaha-based engineering students are required to meet with their advisor each semester.

All first and second year students can schedule an appointment with their academic advisor by phone or email. If you do not know who your academic advisor is, please contact Brenda Painter at 402-554-3176 or by email at bpainter2@unl.edu.
What to Expect
It is our goal to make your advising session a low-stress experience. To prepare for a successful advising session, it is important that you think about questions to ask your advisor beforehand. Asking well thought out questions will ensure all of your needs are addressed once the advising session concludes.
