Calling All Engineering Student Leaders!


This is Your Chance to Become a Peer Mentor for the 2008-2009 Academic Year

College Of Engineering Peer Mentors Receive:
$7.50 an hour for 3 hours a week

Peer mentors assist first year students in their transition to University life by sharing their experiences and advice. As a peer mentor, you will have the satisfaction of helping someone succeed as a Nebraska Engineering student. The peer mentor program will begin Tues., Aug. 19 and will run throughout the academic year.

Students wishing to be a peer mentor must meet the following requirements:

  • Be enrolled full-time in the College of Engineering
  • Peer Mentors must have a G.P.A. of 2.75 or above
  • You must be available for one of the following time slots in the Fall Semester:
    • Mondays 4:30-5:20pm or 5:30-6:20pm
    • Tuesdays 4:30-5:20pm or 5:30-6:20pm
    • Wednesdays 4:30-5:20pm

Peer Mentor responsibilities include:

  • Attend Mentor Training Program on Tuesday, August 19
  • Attend NUBE camp on Wednesday, August 20 - Thursday, August 21
  • Meet with mentee group in Engineering Freshman seminar class in the Fall semester.
  • Attend monthly mentor meetings to keep up to date on current resources
  • Create social opportunities for your mentees.
  • Offer tutoring hours for your mentees
  • Document interactions and write up a monthly report about assigned students
  • Duties as assigned

* Exceptions can be granted for attendance at NUBE Camp
