Calling All Engineering Student Leaders!
This is your chance to become a Peer Mentor for the Fall 2009 semester
College of Engineering Peer Mentors receive $7.50 an hour for 3 hours a week.
Peer mentors assist first year students in their transition to University life by sharing their experiences and advice. As a peer mentor, you will have the satisfaction of helping someone succeed as a Nebraska Engineering student. The peer mentor program is a semester long commitment that will begin Tues., Aug. 18 and will end after the Fall 2009 semester.
Students wishing to be a peer mentor must meet the following requirements:
- Be enrolled full-time in the College of Engineering
- Peer Mentors must have a G.P.A. of 2.75 or above
- You must be available for at least one of the following time slots in the Fall Semester:
- Mondays 3:30-4:20pm
- Mondays 4:30-5:20pm
- Wednesdays 3:30-4:20pm
- Wednesdays 4:30-5:20pm
Peer Mentor responsibilities include:
- Attend Mentor Training Program on Tuesday, August 18
- Attend NUBE camp on Wednesday, August 19 - Thursday, August 20*
- Meet with mentee group in Engineering Freshman seminar during select classes in the Fall semester
- Attend monthly mentor meetings to keep up to date on current resources
- Coordinate large scale social programs with other Peer Mentors for mentees
- Offer tutoring hours for your mentees
- Document interactions and write up a monthly report about assigned students
- Other duties as assigned
* Exceptions can be granted for attendance at NUBE Camp
