Counseling and Psychological Services provides individual, group and relationship counseling. Walk-in and after-hours assistance is available for urgent concerns. In addition, CAPS psychiatrists can prescribe medications if needed.
Special workshops and support groups are also available to help you relax, gain assertiveness skills, manage the demands of school and children, improve body image, complete theses and dissertations, manage anger, and handle other issues of concern.
The first three counseling visits are free for any student enrolled at UNL. Charges begin with the fourth visit and are based on an hourly rate. There is a charge for visits with a CAPS psychiatrists. Remember, most of CAPS services are offered at rates below community rates, and insurance may cover your counseling visit depending on your insurance plan.
