- Being placed on Academic Probation is similar to receiving a warning to improve your academic performance. You are placed on probation when your cumulative NU GPA drops below a 2.0. The answer to "What can I do?" may be different for different people. If you are on probation, your academic advisor can offer helpful suggestions.
- 1. Students who are placed on Academic Suspension when their semester GPA is lower than 2.0 for consecutive semesters. Suspended students are given the right to appeal their suspension. Appeals of academic suspension must be filed in writing with the Office of the Dean within 21 days after official electronic notification/posting of the grades by the Registrar for the semester at the end of which the suspension was invoked. Suspended students who have filed a notice of appeal may apply to the Office of the Dean for a temporary release from suspension pending the final disposition of the appeal by the campus College Academic Appeals Committee. 2. If the suspension is upheld, it is effective for an academic year following the term of enforcement. Once the suspension period has been enforced, students must reinstate themselves at the UNO Registrar office before being following the advising procedures of the College of Engineering. Paperwork must be completed and approved by the College of Engineering to reinstate a student.
