Douglas Alvine is president of Alvine Engineering, a mechanical, electrical and technology engineering and consulting firm with a nationwide client base and offices in Omaha, Lincoln, Des Moines, Iowa and Oklahoma City. A native of Omaha and a graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Doug is a registered professional electrical engineer in 36 states. Doug has been instrumental in growing the firm founded by his father from 18 employees to a staff of nearly 80.
During the 1990s, Alvine Engineering recognized the increasing demand for professional technology integration and infrastructure engineering design. He focused attention on the creation and development of the firm's technology engineering division. The successful results of this effort culminated in the branding of the technology engineering department as IP Design Group.
Doug is a United States Green Building Council LEED Accredited Professional. Alvine Engineering is committed to the goals of sustainable design initiatives and the integrated design approach for facilities.
Doug is a nine-year board member and past Executive Committee member of Heartland Family Service; past State President and National Director of the American Council of Engineering Companies; past Executive Committee member of United Way of the Midlands; past board member of Junior Achievement; and past member of the University of Nebraska President's Advisory Council.
Doug and his wife, Kim are the proud parents of six children, ranging in ages 19 to 3. In his spare time, Doug is an adjunct instructor for the Architectural Engineering program at UNL, teaching a senior design class. Doug has been a member of the Architectural Engineering Advisory Committee since 2004.
