AE Options Conference
Welcome to the 1st Annual AE Options Conference!
March 6, 2014 from 1pm-4pm
About the Conference
The 1st annual Durham School AE Options Conference will feature 14 speakers discussing the variety of applications of an architectural engineering degree, including: building controls, fire protection, engineering design (structural, mechanical, electrical, acoustics, lighting, etc.), forensic engineering, sales, energy modeler, BIM Manager, academic researcher and more. Since students will decide their AE emphasis at the end of their 3rd year in the program, this is an excellent way for students to gain exposure to the variety of options and talk with well-established engineers from across the country.
This conference follows the “PechaKucha” format with each presentation involving 20 slides with 20 seconds per slide (approximately 8 minutes each) with presenters providing of images of past projects, photos and descriptions of their daily work life, an insight into their specialty, and advice for any additional training students should pursue. There will be time for students to ask questions and talk one-on-one with speakers following the presentations.
The conference is offered in the Scott Conference Center for the first 75 freshmen, sophomores, and juniors who RSVP online.
Drinks and snacks will be provided for all students and invited industry presenters. The industry presenters will also be recognized at the AE Banquet that evening.
