Discover Engineering Day 2008

About

The College of Engineering started Discover Engineering Day in 2001 as a way to introduce middle school students and their teachers to the various fields in engineering and the engineering programs offered at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. The event is hosted by the college's student organizations and is filled with hands-on activities that apply math, science and creative thinking skills.

Schedule

9 - 9:30 a.m.

Student arrival and registration
Cook Pavilion (inside the Campus Recreation building)

9:30 a.m - Noon

Hands-on activities and presentations
Cook Pavilion

Noon - 1 p.m.

Lunch (Please bring your own lunch)*
Military & Naval Science Building (M&N)

There is no registration fee to attend Discover Engineering Day.

*Unless otherwise notified please plan to pack a lunch. Teachers will be updated prior to the program if this changes.

Guests are responsible for their own parking fees.

Parking

Guests will be responsible for their own parking fees. There are limited metered spots in the lot across the street from Cook Pavilion. (Please note that the meters directly in front of the Cook Pavilion are only 10- to 30-minute spots.) School buses and large passenger vans can drop off passengers in the loop in front of Campus Recreation/Cook Pavilion, then park for free near the entrance to the State Fairgrounds approximately 3 blocks away.

Registration:

Teachers, please have students’ parents complete the photo release form and bring each form with you to campus.

Click here to register.

Registration deadline for each event: February 22, 2008 or on space-available basis.

The registration form should be completed by the teacher or chaperone responsible for the student or group of students.
