Departmental Awards
The following award is nominated by departmental faculty and/or departmental student organizations, and is judged by the members of eSAB.
Lagerstrom Award: (Word) (PDF)
(Certificate) (1 award) Given annually to a department determined to be the best based on the following categories; student organizations, student activities, E-Week participation and community/philanthropy events. Scores will be determined by dividing the total number of points by the number of students in the department so the small departments can fairly compete with larger ones.
Faculty Teaching Awards
The following awards are nominated by faculty, staff, students or alumnus of the College of Engineering and are judged by a select teaching committee which includes members of the Academy of Distinguished Teachers.
Holling Family Master Teacher Award: (Word) (PDF)
($4,000 from the College and $1,000 from UNL) (2 awards – Must work on the Lincoln Campus) A general teaching award open to all faculty ranks. Recipients will be recognized at the UNL Honors Convocation, Spring Semester, 2008. (The 2007 recipients are David Admiraal and Wayne Jensen) This award requires the completion of the Course Listing and Evaluation form. (Excel) (PDF)
Holling Family Distinguished Senior Faculty Teaching Award: (Word) (PDF)
($2,500) (2 awards) General teaching award open to the ranks of associate professor and professor only. This award requires the completion of the Course Listing and Evaluation form. (Excel) (PDF)
Henry Y. Kleinkauf Family Distinguished New Faculty Teaching Award: (Word) (PDF)
($2,500) (2 awards) General teaching award open to the rank of assistant professor. This award requires the completion of the Course Listing and Evaluation form. (Excel) (PDF)
Holling Family Distinguished Teaching Award for Innovative Use of Instructional Technology: (Word) (PDF)
($2,500) (1 award) This award recognizes the innovative and creative use of instructional technology in the classroom and is open to all faculty ranks.
The following award is nominated and selected by the UNO Alumni Association.
UNO Alumni Association/Holling Master Teaching Award: (Word) (PDF)
($1000 from UNO, $4000 from UNL) (1 award – Must work on the Omaha Campus) A general teaching award open to all faculty ranks. The recipient of this award is selected by the UNO Alumni Association. The winner will also be recognized at the Faculty & Staff Recognition Reception.
The following awards are nominated by students, and are judged by the members of CETSAB or the Nebraska Alpha Chapter of Tau Beta Pi.
Holling Family Distinguished Teaching/ Advising/ Mentoring Award: (Word) (PDF)
($2500) (2 awards, 1 Lincoln, 1 Omaha) This award recognizes an individual faculty for her/his effectiveness as an advisor and mentor, as well as their effectiveness as a classroom teacher. This recipient of this award will be chosen by eSAB.
Tau Beta Pi & Holling Distinguished Teaching Award:
($2500) (1 award) General teaching award open to all faculty ranks, nominated and chosen by members of the Nebraska Alpha Chapter of Tau Beta Pi.

Faculty Research Awards
The following awards are nominated by faculty, staff, students, or alumni of the College of Engineering and are judged by a volunteer research panel selected by the Associate Dean of Research.
College Faculty Research and Creative Activity Award: (Word) (PDF)
($2,500) (3 awards) (1 award per rank) This award will recognize individuals for activities associated with investigation or experimentation aimed at the discovery and/or interpretation of facts as well as the development of creative works or new products.
The following award is self-nominated and is judged by a volunteer research panel selected by the Associate Dean of Research.
Multi-disciplinary Research Award: (Word) (PDF)
(In cooperation with the College of Arts and Sciences and the Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources, each College will award $750 to each of their faculty who are members of the chosen research team) (1 award) This award recognizes outstanding inter-college and/or interdepartmental research projects. Any mature multi-disciplinary research project that was funded during the previous calendar year (2005) is eligible.
Faculty Service Awards
The following award is nominated by faculty, staff, students, or alumni of the College of Engineering and is judged by the Academy of Distinguished Teachers.
College of Engineering Faculty Service Award: (Word) (PDF)
($2500) (3 awards) (1 award per rank) This award recognizes outstanding individuals for their service to their Department, College, University, profession and community. Each department may nominate one (1) individual per rank.
Staff Awards
Individuals may apply themselves or be nominated by any faculty, staff, student or alumnus of the College of Engineering. The award applicants will be judged by a UNOPA and UAAD volunteer committee comprised of employees outside of the College of Engineering
College Annual Staff Service Award: (Word) (PDF)
($1500) (up to 6 awards) This award is open to all full time College of Engineering staff that has had an appointment in the College of Engineering over 6 months. There will be 6 annual awards given in the amount of $1,500 at the Spring College of Engineering Awards Ceremony.
Consideration will be given for: superior service and for those who have made significant contributions to a Department, the College and/or the University. In addition, the committee will look for those who demonstrate innovative ideas relating to their area of work, professional development, educational and personal development and community interests and activities.
A person who has received an annual service award will not be eligible again for two years. (If you won an award in 2006, you will not be eligible again until 2008.
