3 from UNL to speak at 2016 TEDxLincoln

Shane Farritor, Lederer Professor of Engineering, will speak at the TEDxLincoln Salon event on July 19 and the main event on Sept. 23.

University of Nebraska-Lincoln Chancellor Ronnie Green, Professor Shane Farritor and student Mattison Merritt will be part of the 2016 TEDxLincoln lineup.

A TEDxLincoln Salon, “The Power of Play,” will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. July 19 at Nebraska Innovation Campus, 2021 Transformation Drive. Farritor, Lederer Professor of Engineering and co-founder of Virtual Incision Corp., will speak at the event. Tickets are $15 and include appetizers and a drink ticket. A cash bar will be available.

Farritor also will deliver the presentation “Making as Thinking” at the TEDxLincoln main event, which runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 23 at UNL’s Kimball Recital Hall, 1113 R St. Green will present “The Challenge of Sustainability in the Face of Global Food and Water Security.” Merritt, an English and communications major, will present “Rethinking Our Jokes.”
