The Husker Motorsports Formula SAE team is one of 72 teams from the U.S. and five other countries competing June 20-23 in the Formula SAE Lincoln at Lincoln Airpark. The teams bring their prototype racecars to the competition, where they are judged on such factors as engineering design, performance, endurance, cost, fuel efficiency and overall presentation.

Admission to the events are free and spectators can enter the Airpark facility at the gate near NW 34th and West Luke Streets.

The SAE International Formula SAE program is an engineering design competition for undergraduate and graduate students. The competition enables participants to enhance their engineering design and project management skills by applying classroom theories in a challenging competition. The engineering design goal is to design, develop and construct a single-seat racecar for the non-professional weekend autocross racer, based on a fictional manufacturing company.

The schedule includes:

  • Wednesday: tech inspections on
  • Thursday:  Static events such as business and cost presentations, and design; dynamic events practice
  • Friday: Dynamic events such as skid pad, acceleration and autocross
  • Saturday: Dynamic events such as endurance and fuel efficiency

Team can win awards in several categories, including the Spirit of Excellence Award--highest accumulated scores for the top 10 finishers, static events like cost, engineering design, and presentation; and some specialty awards.
