The Sunday with a Scientist program at the University of Nebraska State Museum of Natural History will feature the research of Jinsong Huang, assistant professor of mechanical and materials engineering. The family-friendly event is 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Nov. 18 at Morrill Hall.

The presentation will include hands-on activities related to cutting-edge solar technology that could someday cover clothing or backpacks to power electronic devices. Visitors will be able to interact with flexible solar panels and learn how a flexible solar cell is made.

Huang’s presentation will include a solar cell that can be wrapped around a human hair. He will also show various applications of solar cells, including their use in charging a cell phone, laptop and toys.

Led by Jinsong Huang, assistant professor of mechanical and materials engineering at UNL, children and families will explore cutting-edge solar cell technology that could someday cover clothing or backpacks to power electronic devices.

Sunday with a Scientist is a series of presentations that highlight the work of UNL scientists, while educating children and families on a variety of topics related to science and natural history. Presenters share scientific information in a fun informal way through demonstrations, activities or by conducting science on site.
