Show Students Why Math and Science Matter!

The 2016 TEAMS competition, “Engineering the Tools of Innovation,” will explore tools engineers use in areas such as space exploration, effective manufacturing and microscopy.

Focused on a theme each year, original academic and innovative concepts are developed for the TEAMS competition based on the National Academy of Engineering Grand Challenges. Tackling these challenges requires critical job-readiness skills such as collaboration, analytical thinking, and multidimensional problem-solving.

Why TEAMS?

  • Increases student knowledge and understanding of engineering
  • Helps students see what's possible with a major and career in engineering
  • Raises student confidence in their ability to participate in engineering activities
  • Energizes students with new academic topics and content
  • Removes social barriers and negative attitudes about engineering
  • Promotes collaboration and problem-solving in a team environment
  • It's fun! Student teams vie for local, state and national recognition and awards with the chance to be named “Best Overall” in the country
