Two UNL electrical engineering students – Joseph Hartwig and Drew Wiseman – have been awarded scholarships through the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Power & Energy Society Scholarship Plus Initiative.

Hartwig is a senior from Omaha and is on track to graduate in 2015. Wiseman is from Bismarck, N.D., expects to graduate in 2017.

They are among the 184 undergraduate students who received the scholarships, which include funding that begins with the 2014-15 academic year. The scholarship recipients – from 95 American and Canadian universities – will receive up to three years of funding, totaling $7,000, and up to two years of professional experience.

Recipients are high-achieving undergraduate students in electrical engineering programs who have grade-point averages of at least 3.0 and who are committed to exploring the power and energy engineering field through both coursework and career experiences.
