The Nebraska Tech+Engineering Career Institute (NTECI) is an invitation-only program for talented incoming first-year students in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and Software Engineering at UNL. The Institute prepares you for successful careers in your field of interest early while allowing you to explore top employers in the Lincoln and Omaha tech communities, here in the heart of the Silicon Prairie.

Benefits to students selected to be a part of this exceptional cohort include:

  • Move to campus early, August 14, with early move-in fees and meals are covered by the Institute until your housing contract and meal plan starts
  • Make friends and valuable on-campus connections before classes even begin
  • Explore the Lincoln and Omaha tech community through behind-the-scenes access to organizations in the industry
  • Earn credit for a required course, ENGR 20 “Engineering Sophomore Seminar,” upon successful program completion (See FAQs)
  • Build a professional network early in your academic career
  • Engage in active, hands-on career development from campus and industry experts

2021 Schedule

The Institute runs from August 13-19 (the week prior to classes beginning), with an early move in on August 13 or 14. NTECI may also meet for a couple of events during the fall term.

Due to the Garth Brooks concert occuring on-campus this day, we will not be hosting official NTECI events as navigating campus may be difficult and room reservations are not allowed. Abel Dining Hall will be open for meals.

  • If you didn't move in the 13th, move-in the morning of the 14th
  • If you're already moved in, sleep in and get settled, check out campus
  • OPTIONAL: Student and Peer Coach Lunch in Abel, Board Games & Hanging Out
  • OPTIONAL: Connect with your early move-in peers in the afternoon via GroupMe to explore campus
