What to Bring

Change of clothes – wear one outfit and bring a second full outfit to change into.

  • One plain white t-shirt
  • One non-white shirt
  • Two pairs of form-fitting pants (e.g., jeans, trousers, leggings)
  • Two pairs of shoes with no heel (e.g., flats, athletic shoes)

Details on Data Collection Process

Appointments are not expected to take more than two hours. Below is the process from arrival to departure for participants.

  1. You will arrive at the parking area (directions) at Havelock Research Farm (B).
  2. You will be directed to proceed to the Check-In area in Building 1 (C).
    1. You will
      1. review the consent form,
      2. be given as much time as needed to review consent and ask questions to study representative before signing,
      3. fill out basic demographic information.
    2. A authorized study representative will
      1. verify that you have brought a change of clothing, and
      2. witnesses your consent.
    3. Chairs will be available in this area if you would like to sit throughout the check-in process.
    4. If you choose not to consent, you will be free to leave but will receive no payment.
    5. Study representatives will never pressure you to sign the consent form. You will be free to review the form, ask questions, and decline participation.
  3. You will be directed to the Indoor Enrollment area (D) in Building 2.
    1. You will be asked to, while being photographed and video-taped,
      1. stand,
      2. walk at a natural pace, 
      3. turn in a circle.
    2. You will your their weight, height, and extremity measurements taken by a study representative. Same-sex study representatives will be available.
    3. Chairs will be available in this indoor area if you would like to take a break.
  4. You be directed to the Outdoor Collection area (E).
    1. You will be guided to, while being video-taped,
      1. stand, and
      2. walk at a natural pace.
    2. A shaded area under a tent with chairs will be available nearby if you would like to take a break.
  5. You will be directed to return to Building 1 (C) to change your clothes in a private, air-conditioned bathroom.
  6. You can take a break in the Check-In area if desired.
  7. You will be directed to repeat (3) and (4) with your second outfit.
  8. You will return to the Check-In area in Building 1 (C) to receive your payment and check-out.
  9. You may use the private bathrooms to change into the outfit you arrived in, or anything else, if you choose.

You may take a break, reschedule your appointment, or revoke your consent and stop participation at any time during data collection. To do so, you will speak to the WatchID Collections Lead at the Check-In area.

If at any time, you have questions, concerns, or discomforts, you can speak to any study representative. Study representatives will address any and all questions, concerns, or discomforts you have. You are free to revoke your consent and have your data deleted at any time during data collection.
