College of Engineering Employee Awards Luncheon

All College of Engineering faculty and staff are invited to attend the awards recognition ceremony at a special luncheon on Thursday, April 25, 2019 on the City Campus, from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. in Red Cloud A at the Willa Cather Dining Center. (Please note that the date has changed!)

  • 11:00 AM: Let the festivities commence, in celebration of the 150th Anniversary of UNL and the 110th Anniversary of the College of Engineering!
  • 11:30 AM: Lunch service begins
  • 12:00 PM: Awards ceremony begins

Departmental Awards


Description Award
Lagerstrom Award - Outstanding Academic Unit
(Up to 1 award): Presented annually to an outstanding academic unit in the College of Engineering, based on the unit’s accomplishments in providing service to its students, the College, the University, and the broader community.

More Information
The Dean’s Office will sponsor a celebratory party in honor of the winning academic unit, to which all faculty, staff, and students associated with the unit are invited.

(Up to 2 awards): General teaching award open to the ranks of associate professor and professor.

Holling Family Distinguished Teaching/ Advising/ Mentoring Award
(Up to 2 awards: 1 Lincoln, 1 Omaha):Recognizes an individual faculty for her/his effectiveness as an adviser and mentor, as well as effectiveness as a classroom teacher.

(Up to 1 award): Research award open to the rank of assistant professor (tenure track)

$2,500 and $10,000 unrestricted research funds (to be expended within 2 years)

College Faculty Research & Creative Activity Award
(Up to 3 awards; 1 award per rank): Recognizes individuals for activities associated with investigation or experimentation aimed at the discovery and/or interpretation of facts, as well as the development of creative works or new products.
