Reporting Procedures for Exposure, Suspected or Confirmed Cases

If you are ill, symptomatic or had close contacts of Covid-19 case(s) you are to stay or go home and report your situation to your supervisor.

If a faculty member, staff employee or student tells you they have symptoms of COVID-19, have been exposed to someone with a laboratory-confirmed case or they have a laboratory-confirmed case of COVID-19, the following notification procedures must be followed.

If one member of a group tests positive for COVID-19, and/or comes into contact with a person who tests positive for COVID-19, the entire group that has had contact with the person(s) will be required to self-quarantine for the CDC recommended period. When in doubt, we will require individuals and groups with possible exposure to self-quarantine.

Refer to the resources below regarding symptoms.

Remote Work

The Department encourages flexibility for all employees to allow for maximum safety and social distancing. If you are able to complete your work at home, the Department recommends continuing to do so. University guidance regarding Alternate Work Plans can be found here on the UNL COVID-19 website.

BSE Office Staff will continue to work remotely.

BSE Activity Report

Although UNL buildings will be open as of August 10, the BSE Activity Report will still be required and can be completed online here for employees working in Chase Hall EXCEPT for faculty teaching in person.

This will enable us to monitor our on-campus buildings and off-campus research areas and ensure they do not exceed both “load” guidelines and social distancing requirements. Load requirement means that we cannot exceed 30% of our total capacity in Chase Hall.

Research and Laboratory Operations, Planning and FAQs

Following UNL guidance, we expect that faculty have an approved ORED Research and Creativity Space plan. Faculty and Lab supervisors need to ensure that each member in their team has reviewed and understands the plan. All labs are to follow the UNL guidelines:
