What is your position at Nebraska?:

Assistant Professor and Irrigation Engineer

What drew you to the University?:

The opportunity to do teaching and research, and to be able to move closer to extended family in South Dakota. 

What aspect of working in an educational setting do you enjoy the most?:

My favorite part is teaching classes. Second is advising students. 

What are the most challenging and the most rewarding parts of your job?:

The most rewarding part is seeing students learn and grow. The most challenging part is balancing the many responsibilities that are on my plate. 

What is something that most people don’t know about you?:

I grew up on a farm and enjoyed being involved in FFA in high school. 

What is your life like outside of work?:

I am married with four kids, ages 5 to 12. We enjoy outdoor activities and being involved with church activities. 

Do you have any advice for current or prospective students?:

I recommended seeking part time jobs or internships while you are a student that will help you better identify a career direction that you are interested in.
