"Who shall set a limit to the influence of a human being?" -- Ralph Waldo Emerson

Julia Franck

Major: Agricultural Engineering
Hometown: Papillion, NE
Emphasis: Soil and Water resources

What do you enjoy most about UNL?:

I would have to say the people I have met here.  I’ve met some really great people and made lots of lifelong friends.

Are you involved in any activities outside of class? If so, which ones?:

I am in ASABE, FOCUS, and was in AOII but now I am part of the AOII Alumni Chapter.  I also work in a lab here in Chase.

Of all the courses you've taken, what is your favorite class and what make it so enjoyable?:

My favorite class has been Animal Waste Management.  I really enjoyed having Dr. Schulte as a professor and he made the class really enjoyable.  I also enjoyed actually learning about animal waste management, which is kind of strange, but it was very interesting to me.

What has been your greatest achievement so far?:

I think my greatest achievement has been making the Dean’s list two semesters in a row.  And I know you only asked for one, but finally fulfilling all of my class requirements and being able to graduate this May is another one.

What do you plan to do after you graduate?:

I plan to work for an engineering consulting company in a water resources department, though my dream job would be working for an agricultural consulting company on animal waste management design projects.

Do you have any advice that you would like to share with prospective students?:

I would say that Lincoln is a really great school with great faculty and great people, so you will not regret choosing Lincoln.  I would also say get involved and get to know the people in your classes and major.
