Curriculum Vitae

A little info about me:

I’ve been the Associate Dean for Graduate and International Programs in the College of Engineering at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln the fall of 2018. Prior to that I Chaired UNLs Department of Civil Engineering from August of 2013 to October of 2018.

Education:

I received my Ph.D. degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia in August of 1999. My dissertation was entitled "Studies of a Full-Scale Horizontally Curved Steel I-Girder Bridge System Under Self-Weight." My advisors were Dr. Roberto T. Leon and Dr. Abdul-Hamid Zureick.

I received my M.S. in Civil Engineering from Georgia Tech in December of 1995.

My BSCE was obtained from THE Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio in December of 1990.

Area of Focus:

I have two main research focus areas: bridge engineering and force protection/structural hardening. However, I have been fortunate enough to have been involved with research in other areas, most significantly laboratory testing and structural health monitoring. Check my Research/Publications page for more specifics.

Teaching:

I teach courses related to steel structures, bridges, structural analysis and structural health monitoring. See my Teaching page for class titles.

Family:

I am married with two daughters - I love the ladies in my life!

I would not still be around as a faculty member if it wasn't for my current and former graduate and undergraduate honors students (the other "Family").

Work:

For info on my current students and links to their pages see my Students page. I am also attempting to keep track of my former graduate advisees on the same page.

Any questions? Feel free to contact me.
