My emphasis in the Architectural Engineering program is lighting/electrical and I have been an electrical intern at Olsson for three years out of the Omaha office. This summer,I continued my internship with Olsson in their Tulsa Office. I started out with very little knowledge about electrical systems and have grown in my understanding of electrical and lighting systems. I have worked on a diverse array of projects during my time at Olsson. In the Omaha office, a few memorable projects include the UNMC Medical Center Plaza, Springfield Elementary School, Millwork Commons Greenspace, and Abraham’s Bridge.
While in Tulsa, I got to experience the dynamics of a smaller and younger team and was challenged to take more initiative on projects. I was able to attend a pre-proposal meeting for a paving project at an airline maintenance facility as the electrical team representative, worked on the electrical design for an Oklahoma campground, and a community college student success center. Every day I am working in AutoCAD and Revit, Agi32 and SKM, Enscape and Sketchup, and staying in touch with co-workers and clients through Microsoft Teams and email. My internship has provided me with ample opportunities to apply what I am learning in school and go beyond the classroom.
