This summer I had the opportunity to intern at HDR in Omaha, Nebraska as an electrical engineering intern.I worked as part of the Building Engineering Systems (BES) team which is comprised of mechanical, electrical, structural, low voltage, and fire and life safety engineers. This is a new group, comprised of previously two different groups, who works on a variety of different projects.
I was able to work on a couple different projects this summer in both the federal and healthcare sectors. My favorite part of my experience this summer was seeing all of the technical knowledge I have learned in school so far put to use in the industry. It was exciting to not only see everything come full circle, but to also expand and build upon my prior knowledge from school. I enjoyed getting to know everybody in the office and learn from them, along with getting to know the other interns and go to intern outings with them.
I am thankful for this opportunity from HDR and am excited to finish up my last year of school and begin working in the industry full time.
