Kyle Rotert, a senior in architectural engineering, stands on the levee near the Maple Street bridge in Waterloo. In March, the Elkhorn River surged more than 5 feet above flood stage. Rotert said he learned plenty about engineering by helping to monitor the levees during those hectic days.

2018 People’s Choice Award winner was the Planar Microgravity Simulator, which allows researchers to test their small satellite systems on Earth.

Ece Erdogmus, professor of architectural engineering and associate director of The Durham School of Architectural Engineering and Construction, received the 2019 AEI Outstanding AE Educator Award.

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln and the College of Engineering are part of a recently announced Lincoln STEM Ecosystem aimed at fostering positive STEM interactions for students.

The Nebraska construction management team won the Race to Build competition, held April 5-7 in Bristol, Tennessee. Three teams of university students compete to build houses over three days. The houses are given to veteran families in that area.

Sarah Drummey (center), a master's student in architectural engineering, was chosen as the 2018 ACEC Scholar of the Year, a scholarship program that gives preference to students who intern at consulting engineering firms.
