During this summer I worked as an Electrical EngineeringIntern at ME Engineers in Kansas City, Missouri. This firm includes engineers and designers that work on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and technology systems for sport stadiums, serving leagues such as NBA, NFL, NHL, MLB, and MLS. My journey throughout this internship helped me gain experience and knowledge in the design of electrical systems through assisting professional engineers with lighting and power circuiting and helping meet project deadlines for multiple sport stadiums.
A major highlight of my internship was working on several sport arena projects for hockey, football, and soccer, such as Belmont Park Arena for the New York Islanders hockey team, Climate Pledge Arena for the Seattle Kraken ice hockey team, and the St. Louis MLS Stadium project. Not only did the various sports projects make for a memorable internship, but friendships with amazing people at the company made it truly enjoyable. In fact, I got to know more about members of the firm by joining theirs and volleyball league.
The work that I did on these projects gave me the opportunity to understand and learn circuiting in Revit, as well as get into submittal reviews, construction change directives (CCDs), design processes, and some lighting calculations using software programs. Through the work I have done at ME Engineers this summer, I hope to continue my passion for learning throughout my career.
