This summer I had the opportunity to join Kiewit and be a part of the Franklin WRF Modifications and Expansion project. This project is a liquid waste plant and the modifications are aimed to increase the volume and efficiency of the site.
As a Field EngineerIntern, I was responsible for different things such as quality inspections, concrete pour plans, procurement of materials, and assisting with work in the field. I split my time on site spending the first half of the summer doing concrete work and the remainder being a part of the civil team. This allowed me to see many interesting aspects of the field, some of which I was unfamiliar with. Working with Kiewit has been a fantastic opportunity as they treat you with respect and make you feel like an actual member of the team.
Going forward I will take the new experience of being on an industrial job with me and intend to use the lessons learned as I navigate through my career.
