Hamid Vakilzadian earns IEEE-USA Citation of Honor

Hamid Vakilzadian, professor of electrical and computer engineering, was honored with the George F. McClure Citation of Honor on Feb. 3 at the IEEE-USA Awards and Recognitions Ceremony in Burlingame, Calif.

According to the event program, the Citation of Honor is given to IEEE "members who have made exemplary contributions toward achieving the aims of professional activities in the United States."

Vakilzadian was cited for "unequaled commitment to the growth and prosperity of the Electro-Information Technology (EIT) Conference and for leadership in Region 4 Technical and Professional Activities." He organized the EIT2017 conference that was hosted at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in May 2017.

He is a senior member of the IEEE Computer Society and is an author or co-author of more than 120 technical and professional articles. Vakilzadian's collaboration and contributions to the Region 4, the local section of IEEE, and the local chapter of the IEEE Computer Society and his broad experience in this area has resulted in his appointment as chair of the IEEE West Area, PACE Committee Chair, and Technical Activities Committee Chair of Region 4 of IEEE.

Vakilzadian was previously awarded with the IEEE-USA Regional Professional Leadership Award and IEEE Region 4 Conference Committee Awards (2003-04, 2014).
