Focusing on safety, efficiency, the environment and customer service are Lee McIntire’s goals as interim CEO of McDermott International. McIntire, a civil engineering graduate of the College of Engineering, was named to the post in June of 2021 after being recruited to join McDermott’s Board of Directors a year ago.

“I have admired McDermott’s project execution and customer focus for years and was pleased to join the board last year,” he said. “I have confidence in the organization and am committed to staying focused on safety, efficiency, the environment and our customers.”

McDermott International is a provider of engineering and construction solutions to the energy industry, helping transport and transform oil and gas into globally used products.

Prior to heading McDermott, McIntire was CEO of Terrapower from 2015 to 2018 and chairman, CEO and president of CH2M HILL, a global engineering services company, from 2006 to 2014. While at CH2M HILL, he helped the company double its revenue and expand its workforce to more than 30,000 employees.

McIntire’s extensive engineering experience dates back to the 1980s, when he was a partner and executive vice president at the Bechtel Corporation for 15 years. Additionally, he has served on multiple corporate boards, including the executive committee of the Nuclear Energy Institute, National Petroleum Council, and British Aerospace. McIntire is currently a board member for Ovintiv (Encana) and Spur Petroleum.
