E-Week 2022 was “In the Elements” and, more importantly, in person as COVID protocols were relaxed in late February to bring students and sponsors together for networking mixers, engaging professional panels, Lunch & Learn meetings, and much more.

Student-organized events are always the highlight of E-Week, which has been a Nebraska tradition since 1913. This year, 24 companies and organizations sponsored E-Week with financial support, and many professional engineers donated their time to meet with students on both Scott and City Campuses.

“Depending on the sponsorship level, industry partners had some great opportunities to join the students for their events,” said Jen Skidmore, director of student development in the College of Engineering. “Our students appreciate the support they receive from industry, and it was great to host a majority of E-Week activities in person again this year.”

Sponsorships ranged from Diamond and Gold to Silver and Bronze levels, and employers who partnered with the college in signature events at the Diamond and Gold levels had unique access to students, including:

  • Lunch & Learn sessions sponsored by Kawasaki and the Society of American Military Engineers professional chapter
  • A Paint & Sip creative event hosted by the Society of Women Engineers student organization and sponsored by Benesch
  • A Panel of Professionals & Networking discussion where several industry partners participated.

Additionally, there were several social and community-building activities for students with an Engineers Night Out in Omaha; a trivia night (Noche de Loteria y Trivia!) hosted by Latinos in STEM on Scott Campus; “Donuts with the Dean” on City Campus; an Engineering Carnival at Othmer Hall; and Earth, Wind and Fire E-Week Finale at Scott Campus.

“The success of E-Week and its fun and engaging activities is possible due to industry engagement and continued support provided by the engineering community,” added Skidmore. “This is impactful to everyone involved, especially students who learn what is important when looking to chart a career path. Our community coming together for E-Week is always more meaningful with participation from our great industry partners.”
