Nancy Pridal didn’t take the easy road to becoming president, CEO and board chair of Lamp Rynearson, a firm specializing in civil engineering, landscape architecture and surveying. As a non-traditional student raising two small children, Pridal credits a Regents Scholarship and helpful faculty who helped navigate her through some ups and downs as an undergraduate student in civil engineering.

“Support from faculty during that difficult time made all the difference in the world,” said Pridal, who began her career working for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

At Lamp Rynearson, she oversees a company making a difference in communities whether it’s engagement opportunities or large infrastructure projects. Pridal, along with eight other distinguished alumnae, was honored April 1 during the Alumni Masters’ Medallion Dinner. Alumni Masters is sponsored by the Nebraska Alumni Association, the Student Alumni Association, and UNL Chancellor’s Office.

In addition to her leadership position at Lamp Rynearson, Pridal is a member of the Greater Omaha Chamber Board of Directors, the University of Nebraska College of Engineering Advisory Council, and the Engineering Change Lab-USA steering committee. She is grateful for her career because of the opportunities to have influence and impact on her community as well as taking on diverse assignments.

“Getting a broad range of experiences early on can open possibilities as your career advances,” Pridal answered when asked the best advice for students wanting to be civil engineers. “Apply for internships while you’re still in school. Internship experiences can help drive choices for career paths.”
