Nebraska Engineering alum named EVP, COO at Pacific Gas and Electric

Adam L. Wright was recently named executive vice president, operations and chief operating officer of Pacific Gas and Electric Company.

Wright began his role at PG&E in February and is responsible for all of the utility's operations – electric, gas and generation. As executive vice president of operations and COO, Wright will focus on safety, increasing connectivity among operational groups and promoting excellence across the board. He joined PG&E after serving three years as president and CEO of MidAmerican Energy Company, a Berkshire Hathaway Energy company. He was hired by MidAmerican in 2012 to lead expansion and operations of the company’s wind generation fleet, before taking over the company’s gas delivery operations in 2015.

Wright began his employment with the Berkshire Hathaway Energy family of businesses in 1996 serving in various management roles within Northern Natural Gas’ operations group. He also served as vice president of marketing, managing negotiation and execution of long-term service agreements and general customer satisfaction initiatives.

Wright served as a full board member at MidAmerican, and was a board member on the Iowa Business Council and the Iowa Utility Association. He also served as director for the American Gas Association. In 2020, Wright served on the Iowa Governor's COVID-19 Economic Recovery Advisory Board.

Wright earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the UNL College of Engineering. He is a member of the 2021 Class of Henry Crown Fellows within the Aspen Global Leadership Network at the Aspen Institute.
