I was born and raised in Olathe, Kansas, a suburb on the west side of Kansas City, and I graduated from Olathe West High School. During my senior year, I served as the president of the Green Technologies Academy, a program that combined environmental science with engineering to teach students about agriculture and the energy industry.
During my time in the academy, my peers and I built a fully autonomous solar rover and began work on an electric, single-seat vehicle. In the winters, I was most likely to be found in some freezing, northern Midwest town playing travel ice hockey, a sport I began playing when I was five and have loved ever since.
Through my academic activities and hockey, I have learned numerous leadership skills, which I hope to continue to develop through the Kiewit Scholars program. I am pursuing a mechanical engineering degree with the hopes of going into the motorsports industry after graduation, designing and building race cars.
