Power Laboratory
The department maintains a Power Laboratory. There are two instrumented engines (a John Deere diesel and a Ford gasoline) and two dynamometers for measuring engine performance characteristics (a Superflow water brake dynamometer supported with a data acquisition system, and a Sprague electric dynamometer).
Furthermore, the laboratory includes an experimental set-up for high altitude combustion research, a steam turbine, a versatile air conditioning unit and a two-stage air-compressor with intercooling. A Laboratory technician is dedicated to this activity.
