Wellness Week: Fitness

Daily Fitness:

Fitness looks different for everyone because everyone’s body and situation are different. While we are all different, we can all seek to improve our fitness. Think about the word fitness, it is your fitness or ability to live your life. All bodies function uniquely, but everyone can work to make their body function better for what they do each day. That is truly living a fit life.

  • Day 1- One of the most important aspects of living well is sleep. Many plan what they eat and how they exercise, but struggle because they give their sleep little thought. Sleep is the foundation of everything else you do; give it the priority it deserves. Check out our section on sleep and learn how to get back to sweet dreams.
  • Day 2- As sleep is the foundation of our lives, food is the fuel of all we do. While there are no inherently bad foods, there are some that are more nutrient dense than others. Eating food rich in nutrients and fiber can help you feel full longer while providing needed resources to your body. Try substituting whole and natural foods rather than heavily processed options.
  • Day 3- Each day we all do things, whether it is physical, mental, or a mix of both. Day after day we settle into a routine of doing what we need and expending only the energy necessary. If we want to improve and challenge our status quo we must do more, park further away, take the stairs, analyze something in a different way, or find a new perspective. Push yourself to challenge the norm.
  • Day 4- Another way to seek fitness is to do what you do with more intensity. While this doesn’t apply across the board, it is important to reach a point where you are breathing hard, can feel your heartbeat, and sweat starts to form on your brow. You and your heart will be healthier for it.
  • Day 5- Even in the generalities we are talking about this will not apply to everyone. As was mentioned before, everyone’s body and situation are different and that is wonderful. We can all pay attention to what we are being told by our bodies. Stay current on health guidelines and make it a priority to visit the medical professionals in your life.

The way each of these sections is set up is that they can be done week after week. I hope that at the end of Wellness Week these sections will help you implement long-term change and set goals to move toward Living Well. Additionally, each of the sections and daily tips can help you set a goal for our Wellness Challenge that is now live!
