Wentz earns mechanical contractors' highest award

At its annual convention, the Mechanical Contractors Association of America, Inc. (MCAA) presented its Distinguished Service Award to University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Timothy G. Wentz, associate professor of construction management with the College of Engineering.

"Tim Wentz has played a major role in planning all of MCAA's student chapter summits and competitions," said MCAA President Jack Wilhelmi, who leads The Waldinger Corporation in Omaha. He added that Wentz was a founding member and chair of the Mechanical-Electrical Academic Consortium, and served on the Board of Trustees of the Mechanical Contracting Education and Research Foundation. MCAA has also named Wentz Educator of the Year three times.

Wentz is a registered professional engineer, a licensed master plumber, a licensed contractor, and a LEED Accredited Professional. He is a recognized authority on green and sustainable construction practices and is also a fellow of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers. On the faculty of The Durham School, part of Nebraska Engineering's Omaha programs in The Peter Kiewit Institute, Wentz has been awarded numerous honors for teaching, advising and mentoring.

MCAA's highest honor recognizes contributions to the progress, development and expansion of the industry, as well as for outstanding achievement and service. The Mechanical Contractors Association of Omaha, part of MCAA, has 30 member companies involved in heating, air conditioning, controls, refrigeration, plumbing, piping and mechanical service. MCA-Omaha provides its members with educational materials and programs to help them attain managerial and technical expertise.
