Aerospace – eXperimental Payloads

The Aerospace eXperimental Payloads (AXP) team is a group of students of many different majors. Formally known as the USIP and ROCKSAT-X team, our team has a history of applying for and taking place in competitive grants from NASA. The most recent of which is the 2021 RockOn and the 2021 NASA CubeSat Launch Initiative (CSLI).
Aerospace – Design. Build. Fly.
President – Sean Griffin
Design. Build. Fly (DBF) is an aviation-based engineering design team. DBF focuses on the creation of a unmanned, electric powered, radio controlled aircraft that is designed to best fit a given mission profile. Each year, a new mission is given which is designed to mimic a real world engineering problem.
Aerospace Club
President – Khaleb Pafford
The UNL Aerospace Club is a student-led organization consisting of six different design teams: Design Build Fly (DBF), RMC (also referred to as Lunabotics), Rocketry, Rocketry Project 100k, RockSat, and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV). While the Aerospace Club is an engineering-based organization, all UNL students of any discipline are welcomed to join and no prior experience is needed. Our teams will teach you everything you need to know including design, CAD software, how to use power tools, and even 3D printing.

Aerospace - Rocket Propulsion
President – Kaita Baird
The UNL Rocket Propulsion Group (UNL RPG) is a team from the UNL Aerospace Club focused on the development and research of solid propellant rocket motors. The team's goal is to eventually participate in the Intercollegiate Rocket Engineering Competition (IREC) in the Student Research and Design category. Recently, RPG has been focusing on designing and building their first rocket motor using the Cherry Limeade formula from MIT, as well as setting up their testing and mixing sites.

Aerospace – Unmanned Aerial Vehicles
President – Gael Perez
There are many important sectors of the aerospace industry, and one of the fastest growing and most hyped is that of the 'drone', or more properly, 'unmanned aerial vehicle' or 'system'- a UAV or UAS. With the beginning of the UAV Team, the Aerospace Club has opened up the possibility of projects which are almost entirely software based, bringing the realms of cutting-edge aerospace development directly to students of Computer Science and Computer and Software Engineering at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Aerospace – Women in Aerospace
President – Amber Tannehill
This team has three primary emphases: Building Connections in Industry, Skill Workshops, and Networking with Peers. WIA takes the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Complete Engineer program to heart and applies those concepts in their weekly meetings. WIA hosts industry speakers to learn about a multitude of career paths, in addition skill building workshops are commonplace, such as matlab training nights and resume reviews. These applied emphases wouldn’t work without having a strong group of individuals getting to know each other and become a team which is why WIA also hosts game and craft nights to create an inclusive place for everyone.

American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE)

The American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) is an international professional society devoted to agricultural and biological engineering. Our mission is to promote engineering in food, water, energy, fiber, and the environment. Our vision is of a world where all have the food, water, energy, fiber, and safe environment needed to thrive.

American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE)
President – Jack Radermacher
ASCE stands at the forefront of a profession that plans, designs, constructs, and operates society’s economic and social engine – the built environment – while protecting and restoring the natural environment. Through the expertise of its active membership, ASCE is a leading provider of technical and professional conferences and continuing education, the world’s largest publisher of civil engineering content, and an authoritative source for codes and standards that protect the public.

Husker Racing Baja - SAE
President – Truman Gilner
Baja SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) consists of three regional competitions that simulate real-world engineering design projects and their related challenges. Engineering students are tasked to design and build an off-road vehicle that will survive the severe punishment of rough terrain. The goal of Baja SAE is to provide opportunities to gain broader insight of the engineering profession by designing, building, and racing a single-person off-road vehicle.

Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES)
President – McKenzie Branting
Established in 1968, the Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES) is the professional Society for students, faculty, researchers, and industry professionals in biomedical engineering. Since 2002, BMES has been the lead ABET Society accrediting biomedical engineering educational programs. Our mission is to promote a collaborative and inclusive community to advance human health through education, discovery, and translation. This mission drives our research and educational initiatives, including webinars, chapter programs, and meetings.

CornHacks Organizer Commitee
President – Erbey Uribe
CornHacks aims to bring some of the most talented developers from around the Midwest to join in a weekend full of hacking. Hosted at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, over 100 participants will code all day and night to be assessed by industry professionals and compete for prizes.

Computing Student Advisory Board (cSAB)

The Computing Student Advisory Board (cSAB) is an organization that represents the students majoring in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and Software Engineering. We hold events, panels, and offer support to other Registered Student Organizations that are involved with computing.

Engineering Ambassadors Network
President – Abby Murray
The engineering ambassadors (EAs) are talented undergraduate student leaders from the College of Engineering. They are trained extensively in communication and leadership skills, which they use for outreach to the K-12 community throughout Nebraska. Visits consist of interactive, engaging presentations on an engineering topic paired with hands-on activities, and are delivered in a variety of fashions to learners in K through 12 educational environments. We seek to share the impact of engineering on the health, happiness, and safety of our world, as well as inspire youth with the amazing opportunities engineering offers.

UNL's Engineering Student Advisory Board (eSAB) is the College of Engineering's own student council. The board is made up of undergraduate students representing every department of the CoE. eSAB aims to support the engineering student body through the hosting of professional and social events, while acting as a liaison between the CoE dean, and registered student organizations (RSO's).

Engineers Without Borders (EWB)

Engineers Without Borders USA (EWB-USA) is an international non-profit organization that aims to build a better world through engineering projects that empower communities globally to meet their basic human needs and equip leaders to solve the world’s most pressing challenges. It is an organization that supports community-driven development programs worldwide through the design and implementation of environmentally sustainable, equitable, and economic engineering projects. While advancing the quality of life in these communities, EWB-USA works to develop globally aware and personally responsible engineers and students. Through projects both here in Nebraska and abroad, EWB-NU empowers students to use their engineering skills to help others.

Cornhusker Figure 8 Race Team

At UNL Figure 8, we want to break down the stigma of engineers never having to work on the things they design. In our club, we have two teams: a compact team and a stock team. Our members choose which team they prefer or wish to be on, and then will be tasked with building figure 8 race cars that meet all requirements and regulations.

Husker Motorsports UNL Formula SAE
President – Nicholas Gauer
Husker Motorsports is a student-run organization at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. We are comprised of 45 students ranging from freshmen to graduate students. The team designs, constructs, and races an open wheel formula style race car in one of the world's largest design competitions, Formula SAE. Overall, approximately 500 teams from around the world participate in the program, with around 150 of those teams coming from North America.

UNL Game Development Club
President – Parker Peterson
Our mission: To guide students in learning effective professional game development techniques. We accomplish this by helping students organize into teams to get practical game development experience, as well as by discussing game design concepts and demonstrating technical processes. We also provide students the opportunity to showcase their skills at game jams, and help them find teammates to compete with.

Initialize
President – Kevin Tran
Initialize is an outreach group dedicated to expanding the reach of computer science. We do so through acts of community service, leadership, mentorship, and interdisciplinary inclusion. We believe that computer science is now at the core of every major discovery in the world, and we hope to teach those around us that where those changes come from should not be limited to only certain interests, to only certain education paths, or to one type of person.

Mechanical Contractors Association - Omaha (MCA)

MCA-Omaha members are engaged in such disciplines as plumbing, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, control systems, medical gases, welding, and servicing structures primarily within the industrial, commercial and institutional sectors.

National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE)
President – Maryam Sule
Our mission is to increase the number of culturally responsible black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally and positively impact the community. Since 1975, NSBE has been committed to cultivating and promoting the academic and professional success of African-American engineering students and professionals. Through a variety of programs and activities supported by corporate partnerships with 52 Board of Corporate Affiliate (BCA) members and other strategic relationships, NSBE offers its members the tools needed to succeed in every engineering discipline, while supplying the recruitment pipeline with talented engineers. Membership is open to all students, especially science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) majors.

PI TAU SIGMA members are chosen on a basis of sound engineering ability, scholarship service, leadership, and integrity. The Pi Tau Sigma mission is to strive to create better engineers through commitment to academic excellence and dedication to service. Pi Tau Sigma prides itself in the core values: Integrity (soundness of character and moral conduct), Service (serving the mechanical engineering profession and the community), and Leadership (fostering initiative through example in a professional manner). Research Engineering Design Teams - Big RED Battlebots

Research, Engineering, and Design Teams, or RED Teams, promote hands-on engineering through competitions and challenges. We strive to help start new competitions and challenges as well as promote independent research and design.

Research Engineering Design Teams - UNL NASA Micro-g NExT
President – Peter Lux
For the Micro-g NeXT challenge, NASA sends out challenges for college teams to solve. Our team works using the entire engineering process, from brainstorming, to prototype manufacturing, and finally testing. The Micro-g NExT team travels to the NBL each year to test the final device and present it to NASA.

Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE)
Our chapter focuses in engineering and science undergraduate and graduate students, however, SHPE is open to everybody who feels identified with our purpose. Our purpose is to promote the advancement of Hispanic and Latino engineers and scientists in employment and education, develop and participate in programs with industry and the university, and provide a forum for the exchange of information pertinent for Hispanic and Latino engineering and science students enrolled at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

UNL Theme Park Design Group

Triangle Fraternity is a national social fraternity with the benefits of a professional fraternity. It is unique among fraternities in the North American Interfraternity Conference in that it focuses on bringing together students from STEM majors. Our members consist of STEM disciplines such as engineering, architecture, chemistry, physics, mathematics, computer science, and many more. Our chapter at Nebraska was founded in January of 1962 and was installed on March 16th, 1963.

UNL Robotics Club

UNL Robotics Club is an engineering student organization that focus on design, develop, and build robots and robotics application and participates in annual international robotics competitions. The Robotics Club was founded in 2017 from the robotics team. We are a group of robotics enthusiasts that are interested in developing our skills by designing and building robots, as well as inspiring interests in robotics and supporting the community.
