The 2024 UNL VRC Tournament aims to provide students with not only a quality competition, but also a rich experience exploring all that the University of Nebraska-Lincoln has to offer. We have planned a multifaceted experience for students and parents that will unfold throughout the day.

Eliminating Lines - Establishing Connections

The UNL VRC Tournament is a unique opportunity to engage high school students early on as the next generation of Huskers. During the competition, students can expect a seamless robot "check-in" process that will be used in place of a traditional match queue line. If desired, students will have the option to "check-in" their robot in a specified location (serving as the "queue") and then can network with Nebraska Students, clubs, activities, staff, and faculty. Once the team is up in competition, they will be alerted to retrieve their robot and head to the competition fields.

A similar experience is planned for the Skills Challenge. UNL Student Volunteers will keep track of the competition queue line and will notify teams when it is their turn for skills. Due to the nature of the activity, Judging will still have a line.

Recruitment Sessions & College Tours

For parents, guardians and other guests, the College of Engineering will be present with recruitment staff. At multiple times throughout the day recruitment informational sessions will be given by Dr. Jeff Beavers, the Director of Recruitment for the College of Engineering. These sessions will take place in Kiewit Hall, and student volunteers will guide guests to the session location before they begin.
