The Department of Biological Systems Engineering is located on the East Campus of the university and offers three academic majors:
- Two engineering majors, Agricultural Engineering and Biological Systems Engineering, are administered through the College of Engineering.
- The third major, Mechanized Systems Management, is administered through the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources.
Mission
The mission of the Department of Biological Systems Engineering is to educate engineers and managers, conduct research, and transfer engineering technology to benefit Nebraska's biological systems.
Role
The Department of Biological Systems Engineering shares the role as a Land Grant Institution with missions in teaching, research, extension, and service.
Our department is uniquely situated in both the College of Engineering and the Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources (IANR) through the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources (CASNR). Its connectivity with other academic units through joint faculty appointments, and having faculty at research and extension centers throughout Nebraska, is a source of strength and support for our departmental missions.
