Address:

12, Cours de la Somme 33800 Bordeaux France

Research Interests:

Thomas Guillemet research interests are focused on diamond-based heat dissipative films for thermal management of power electronic modules. At LANE lab (US), he works under direction of Prof. Lu on the processing and the characterization of diamond films through laser-assisted combustion synthesis. At ICMCB lab (France), he works under direction of Prof. Silvain and Prof. Heintz on the fabrication and the characterization of copper/diamond composite films through powder metallurgy. From both prospectives, emphasize is put on the thermal performances of the materials (thermal conductivity, thermal expansion coefficient, interfacial thermal resistance, reliability upon thermal cycling) and on how their microstructure impact their heat dissipative properties.

Biography:

Thomas Guillemet went through the intensive french preparatory classes at Chateaubriand High School (Rennes) and obtained his engineering diploma (equivalent to a M.Sc.) from the National Graduate School of Chemistry and Physics of Bordeaux, in France. He also obtained in parallel a Master degree from the University of Bordeaux in Synthesis and Properties of Inorganic Materials. He is currently finishing a dual Ph.D. program between the College of Engineering of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, in the US, and the Institute of Condensed Matter Chemistry of the University of Bordeaux, in France (graduation planned on August 2013).
