Civil Engineering has proudly contributed to outstanding academics at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln since 1877. Today we lead the College of Engineering in extramural research funding and boast the highest percentage of endowed professors in the College of Engineering.
The Civil Engineering Department administers B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees for the state of Nebraska. Over the last 15 years, students in the College of Engineering have awarded us the J.E. Lagerstrom Outstanding Department Award seven times.
The B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET.

Linzell to serve as chair of Civil Engineering Dept.
Nebraska Engineering Dean Tim Wei announced that Daniel G. Linzell, Ph.D., P.E. will lead the UNL College of Engineering’s Department of Civil Engineering, beginning this summer.
