Employer Information

Thank you for your interest in Industry in Residence. Registration for Fall will open in July 2026!

Industry is Residence is a spotlight of employers in a high-traffic area of our College of Engineering buildings in both Lincoln and Omaha. Registration for fall begins in July, and registration for spring begins in November. Organizations can participate up to 2 times per semester in Lincoln and 1 time per semester in Omaha. Dates are available on a first-come, first-reserved basis.

Engage with the Nebraska Engineering Community

Information Booth - Create brand recognition while having an opportunity to share about your organization, industry, and open positions.
  • Depending on where you are participating in Industry in Residence, your booth will be located either:
    • in the Common Area of Kiewit Hall's 2nd floor (Lincoln)
    • on the 1st floor Atrium of the Peter Kiewit Institute (Omaha)
  • Core tabling hours are between 11:00am and 2:00pm
  • Giveaways, interactive games, raffles/drawings, position descriptions, brochures, and your active engagement help attract students to your booth
Industry in Residence is marketed through:
  • Digital signage throughout all College of Engineering buildings
  • Engineering Career Service's events calendar
  • Engineering Career Service's weekly Career Connections email sent on Fridays to all College of Engineering undergraduates

We are open to partnering with organizations to maximize your time on campus. If you are interested in doing something not listed here, please let Engineering Career Services know by emailing hireengineering@unl.edu.

Logistics

Parking (Lincoln)
  • There is ONE parking spot that will be designated for Industry in Residence in the small parking lot directly to the east of Kiewit Hall. Specific instructions will be emailed to the primary attendee indicated on your registration form.
  • After you park, enter Kiewit Hall and check in at the Engineering Student Services suite on the 5th floor (KH A505) to pick up your parking permit, which must be displayed in your vehicle to avoid being towed.
  • Additional parking - if you need more than one parking spot, additional parties can park in any of these areas around campus at their own expense:
    • Meters around campus 
    • 14th & Avery Garage– 111 N 14th Street 
    • 17th & R Garage – 300 N 17th Street 
  • Engineering Career Services does not validate parking. More information can be found on the Parking and Transit Services website.
Parking (Omaha)
  • Industry in Residence employers are able to park in the Pacific Street Garage across the street from PKI (1110 S. 67th Street). Specific instructions on how to pay using the garage kiosk will be emailed to the primary attendee indicated on your registration form.
  • When you arrive, a staff member will be waiting for you at the table in the Atrium on the 1st floor of PKI (located directly inside the main doors on the east side of the building). If a staff member is not out in the Atrium, please visit the Engineering Student Services suite (PKI 107) to check in.

  • Stop and chat with the professionals at the information booth to learn more about their organization

  • Find out what positions they have available

  • Ask about their professional journey

Make a Positive Impression

  • Be approachable - smile, make eye contact, and greet them confidently

  • Show genuine curiosity - ask follow-up questions based on their answers

  • Share your own experiences, projects, or goals when relevant

  • Be mindful of their time - if other students are waiting, keep your questions concise and follow up later

How to Make the Most of Industry in Residence

Be Prepared

  • Know who is coming - check digital signage, our weekly Career Connections email, and the Engineering Career Services event calendar

  • Be ready to introduce yourself: name, major, year, and your career interest

  • While this is an informal opportunity to engage with employers, if you have time and want to stand out, do a quick Google search on the organization beforehand

Drop By, Even if You Aren't Job Searching

  • Get to know organizations before you apply - building relationships early can give you an edge later

  • Gain industry insight that can help guide your career path

  • Learn about organizations or roles you may not have considered
