Dynamic Systems Lab - Opportunities

Opportunities

DSL has several open positions for motivated postdoctoral researchers, graduate and undergraduate students to join the Dynamical Systems Lab (DSL). DSL is a highly interdisciplinary lab and research opportunities are available to do theoretical/mathematical, computational and experimental work.

Postdoctoral Research Associate (Spring 2020)

Applications are invited for a two-year postdoctoral research associate position in the Dynamical Systems Lab (http://engineering.unl.edu/dsl) in the Mechanical and Materials Engineering (MME) department at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in the area of dynamical systems methods for fluid mechanics. We are looking for enthusiastic researchers with strong mathematical background, and experience in fundamental theoretical or computational research in microfluidics or turbulent flow. A Ph.D. in applied math, physics, or engineering is required.

About UNL and MME: University of Nebraska-Lincoln, a member of the 'Big-Ten', is the flagship land grant university of Nebraska. UNL is classified within the Carnegie “R1-Doctoral Universities: Highest Research Activity” category. The MME department has a vibrant and growing program in both dynamical systems and fluid mechanics.

To Apply: Send a cover letter and recent CV to Prof. Piyush Grover (piyush.grover@unl.edu), along with contact information for three references.

PhD (Spring/Fall 2020):

  • Large-scale multi-agent systems and collective dynamics
  • Dynamics and control of active fluids (microfluidics)
  • Design of multifunctional active structures (metamaterials)

Undergrads/Masters (Ongoing) :

  • Funded research opportunites (including UCARE) for motivated engineering/physics/math undergrads and Masters students in robotics, fluid dynamics and vibrations.
