Dr. Riggan joined the ECE Department at UNL in 2019. Prior to joining, UNL Dr. Riggan worked as a research scientist for the U.S. Army Research Laboratory. His current research focuses on nighttime facial recognition, imaging and recognition through atmospheric turbulence, aerial perception and autonomy, detection and recognition for low-quality images, automatic target recognition, and computer vision for defense and law enforcement applications.
He is currently an associated editor for the IEEE Transactions on Aerospace and Electronic Systems (TAES). Dr. Riggan has also received multiple "Best Paper Awards," include a best paper awards at the 2016 and 2018 IEEE Winter Conference on Applications of Computer Vision (WACV) and the runner-up best paper award at the 2016 IEEE Biometrics: Theory, Application, and Systems conference.
