Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Research Group

We have an opening for 1-2 fully-funded graduate students interested in pursuing a Ph.D. degree in the Geotechnical Engineering Program at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) to start in January 2021 (or earlier). The prospective student should hold an engineering degree from an accredited university. Experience in experimental methods is preferred but not a requirement. The research will be focused on laboratory tests and supporting numerical simulations of engineered barrier materials (e.g., bentonites) for the geologic repository of nuclear waste disposal. The research will involve thermo-hydro-chemo-mechanically coupled experiments and analyses that account for high temperature, solute transport, mechanical swelling/shrinkage and cracking, etc. Interested candidates should send a resume and personal statement to Dr. Eun directly with a brief self-introduction and CV.
